Gernika Awards for Peace and Reconciliation 2020
The town halls of Gernika-Lumo and Pforzheim, the Gernika Peace Museum, the Gernika Culture Centre and Gernika Gogoratuz organize the GERNIKA PEACE AND RECONCILIATION AWARD that award the work of two people or organizations, be they national or international, that stand out for their work in favour of peace and reconciliation.
AWARDS 2020
The winners of the 16th Gernika Peace and Reconciliation Awards 2020 are:
- International Brigades mobilises volunteers as international observers to be eyewitnesses in regions in situations of crisis or armed conflict around the world, and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001.
- Kids’ Guernica for its work in spreading the culture of peace around the world after starting in Japan with a canvas commemorating the 50th anniversary of the nuclear attack on Hiroshima.
The winning associations received the award in 2022, as no public activities took place in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid.
