The winners of the 17th Gernika Peace and Reconciliation Awards 2022 are:
- The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF)
- The caregivers of the Calzada residence in Gernika
The town halls of Gernika-Lumo and Pforzheim, the Gernika Peace Museum, the Gernika Culture Centre and Gernika Gogoratuz organize the GERNIKA PEACE AND RECONCILIATION AWARD that award the work of two people or organizations, be they national or international, that stand out for their work in favour of peace and reconciliation.
AWARDS 2022
The winners of the 17th Gernika Peace and Reconciliation Awards 2022 are:
- The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), the world’s oldest feminist organization, has been recognized by the City Council of Gernika for its dedication to promoting harmony. Founded in 1915 in The Hague, WILPF unites women who stand against all forms of war, violence, oppression, discrimination, and exploitation. The organization advocates for universal disarmament, peaceful conflict resolution, human rights, and the pursuit of economic, political, and social justice.
- The caregivers of the Calzada residence in Gernika have received recognition for their commitment during the hardest moment of the coronavirus pandemic, when they decided to confine themselves to the elderly people of this centre.
