TRANSIT Gernika
TRANSIT Gernika is a temporary exhibition, organised and produced by the Gernika Peace Museum Foundation, which takes the visitor on a tour of the landscapes and places in Gernika-Lumo’s past and present.
What was Gernika like before the bombing? How did it change after its reconstruction? What are the memories and experiences of the people who lived or have lived there at different times? How did they first learn about the bombing? How was this event passed on down to successive generations? What remains of the old Gernika from 1937?
A compilation of perspectives and tales, of presence and absence in a Gernika that is filled with memories and oblivion.
An invitation to travel through time, to go on a journey through the scenes that make up the town of Gernika-Lumo, as seen through the subjects’ eyes and experiences.
