The ‘Walls Against Oblivion’ laboratory was carried out as part of the European Rememchild project.
Rememchild project: Walls against oblivion
In collaboration with Barrutialde Secondary School, 4th year of ESO
Period: October – December 2023
Objective: The laboratory ‘Walls against oblivion’, carried out within the framework of the European project Rememchild in which the Gernika Peace Museum participates, aims to deal with the subject of what it means to be a child or young person during a conflict, the vision you can have of what happens, the consequences of this experience and how it has affected the lives of the children who have suffered from it.
Development of the activity
1) The design of a mural, the wall on which to paint it and the groups with which to paint it were decided upon.
2) A workshop was held in which, on the one hand, testimonies of children who survived bombings in different periods of the XX-XXI centuries were discussed and then the history of muralism was explained.
3) With the help of a muralist (Mikel Aldekogarai – Kezon) 2 murals were painted with the message ‘Gerrarik ez’ (No to war).
Dates
Between October and December 2023.
