Painting by Sofía Gandarias in the permanent exhibition
We have unveiled the triptych ‘Gernika’ painted by Sofía Gandarias. The work is now part of the permanent exhibition at the Gernika Peace Museum.
The inauguration was attended by Enrique Barón, the painter’s husband, Jose Mari Gorroño, Mayor of Gernika-Lumo and President of the Gernika Peace Museum Foundation, Leixuri Arrizabalaga, Provincial Councillor for Basque Language, Culture and Sport in Bizkaia, Iratxe Momoitio, director of the Gernika Peace Museum, Begoña de Ibarra, Director General of Culture of Bizkaia, Asier Madarieta, Managing Director of BizkaiKOA, Patricia Fernandez, legal advisor on art and cultural heritage law, and Teresa Querejazu, among others.
‘Gernika’ is a work painted between 1998 and 1999; it is an oil on canvas, collage and marble dust, and is composed of three modules measuring 200×215 cm.
