European Heritage Days: Architectural Heritage
We will tour the spaces rebuilt after the war as part of the European Heritage Days celebrations held annually during the month of October.
Walking tour: The reconstruction of Gernika after the war
Have you ever wondered about the urban design or the architecture of the place where you live? Not only the names of the streets appear on the map of your city, but you can also sense the ideas of those who first imagined it and then built it.
After the bombing of Gernika, the city had to be rebuilt almost entirely. Learn about the process and discover how the philosophy that prevailed in the post war period left its mark on the urban planning that you can see today.
Please arrive at the museum reception at least 10 minutes before your tour begins.
The tour starts outside the Gernika Peace Museum and we will walk along Arte kale street, Adolfo Urioste street, the Pasileku, the market and the train station.
