Gernika Awards for Peace and Reconciliation 2024

The town halls of Gernika-Lumo and Pforzheim, the Gernika Peace Museum, the Gernika Culture Centre and Gernika Gogoratuz organize the GERNIKA PEACE AND RECONCILIATION AWARD that award the work of two people or organizations, be they national or international, that stand out for their work in favour of peace and reconciliation.

Awards 2024

The winners of the 19th Gernika Peace and Reconciliation Awards 2024 are:

• Fighters For Peace (FFP) is an Israeli-Palestinian organization of former combatants dedicated to fostering peace and reconciliation in the region.
• The Righteous of the Mediterranean Sea is the name of the joint nomination submitted for the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize by 53 humanitarian organizations and 14 deserving individuals, in recognition of their dedicated efforts in rescue, maritime relief, and assistance across the Central Mediterranean and Aegean Sea. In these waters, refugees have found efficient rescue services led by international teams, medical staff, and volunteers, who have welcomed them in the name of peace and guided them to safety under the coordination of the relevant authorities.
