Photography and Civil War

2024-02-01 - 2024-06-30

Presentation

On this occasion, the Documentation Centre on the Bombing of Gernika presents a selection of books on photography and Civil War.

The Civil War aroused great international interest and media from all over the world sent their correspondents to cover the conflict.

Thanks to the work of the photojournalists and photographers of the time, thousands of photographs of the Civil War from both sides have been preserved. They correspond to various scenes that took place throughout the conflict. Images of bombardments, of the rearguard, of evacuations and of the civilian population, had been taken by anonymous people and other well-known people such as Robert Capa, Campúa, Chim and Centelles, among others.

This bibliographic exhibition is a small selection of the monographs that the Documentation Centre on the Bombing of Gernika has in its collection. The books on display here can be consulted in the Documentation Centre.
