The effects and consequences of the atomic bomb are dealt with through Sadako’s story to turn the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki into a message of peace.

Steps

EXERCISE 1: The effects of the atomic bomb.
Explain what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, showing photographs of the effects so that they really realise the seriousness of what happened.

EXERCISE 2: Listening to a testimony
Narrate Sadako’s story.

EXERCISE 3: Making paper cranes
Learn how to make paper cranes.
