Book launch: The Artivist Sailing: Art Therapy and Artivism
In this book is collected all the work done in the itinerary called as the book.
Because artivists do not disembark; they live within the conflict and embark on the difficult and risky task of transforming it.
“The Artivist Sailing: Art Therapy and Artivism” has been a process of research, participation and exhibition, via artivism (activism through arts), in order to address the social emergencies of our time.
“The Artivist Sailing: Art Therapy and Artivism” was an initiative of the Gernika Gogoratuz Peace Research Centre and the Gernika Peace Museum for the Faro de la Paz of San Sebastian, European Capital of Culture 2016.
We embark on an imaginary vessel in order to sail through three rough seas:
– The sea of Civil Rights and Duties
– The sea of Human Rights and Duties
– The sea of Environmental Rights and Duties
And we begin our voyage with the rudder and propeller of ‘artivism’ or social and political activism through creative and non-violent means.
2 February 2017.
